Dental care is essential and should be done regularly to maintain overall good health of teeth and gums. Oral hygiene is the process of maintaining one’s mouth free from disease and infection and by regularly brushing the teeth, flossing and other basic procedures of oral hygiene. It is also important that dental care is done on a continuous basis to prevent the occurrence of bad breath and dental decay. While no one would like to see their teeth getting stained, it is something that happens to everyone at some time or another. Smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol have long been known to cause dental decay in adults but new studies reveal that marijuana use may also contribute to this problem. In the study, marijuana users had significantly more yellow and brown teeth than non Marijuana users.
Marijuana use was first noted for its dental care benefits in the early nineteen hundreds by a renowned dental expert in the United States. Dr. William Sutherland, who is currently practicing as a professor at the University of Utah, did a study of two groups of people. The group that smoked marijuana reported fewer dental visits than the control group and those who did not smoke the marijuana had better oral health. This study has since been replicated by other teams. Do you want to learn more? Visit Powers Dental Group.
